| Customer Reviews: fun toy December 2, 2009 Christmas (Washington, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this toy used from craigslist. Ive never put batteries in it so the turn tables dont move but my son still loves this toy. I dont think I have seen such a durable toy before. My son puts this on our couch and pushes it off all the time along with standing on it and running his push along car over it. Not a single dent or scratch. The only thing that happens is sometimes the little purple door the monkey is hiding behind pops off.. but it easily pops back on. My son loves putting the balls in the top and watching what side its going to go down. If this toy is such a hit with no batteries then it must be amazing with them :) I would totally recommend this toy!
Disappointed May 17, 2010 Brenda Ross (Davenport, IA United States) We received this as a gift from my in-laws, so I don't know how much they paid for it. If they paid the going rate I see for it on Amazon, I think it is overpriced for what you get. Basically the two most interesting aspects are putting the ball in the hole on the tree, and hitting the red button to make the two platforms spin around and play music. When more than one ball is on the moving musical platform, it is very loud and annoying. (And I have a pretty high tolerance for loud an annoying, as a stay at home mom spending my days at home with two boys under three.) I don't consider it to be very educational. My son tired of this toy relatively quickly.
I also had concerns about its safety. When putting the thing together out of the box (some assembly is required) there are some tiny screws that are supposed to go into the purple bridge portion to keep it attached. These screws did not fit securely into the holes, and could have easily become a choking hazard. So I decided not to use them in the toy. The purple bridge kind of slides into place, so the screws weren't essential. The bridge can be pulled off without them, but I'd rather deal with having to put that particular piece on once in a while than to worry about a screw coming out and into my son's mouth.
One nice thing about it is the balls are interchangeable with other Fisher Price toys, like the gumball machine which we also own.
